We are a small neighborhood preschool in NE Minneapolis
focusing on outdoor, child-led play
with an emphasis on emergent curriculum.

We support a love of learning, understanding of self,
and connection to surroundings and others.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in OYNA Outdoor Preschool! We are so excited to share our lovely outdoor and indoor spaces and provide a truly child-centered early learning experience for your children! As an inclusive community, we believe not only in providing a healthy learning environment for children, but also for parents; to foster connections and support systems for years to come.

Outdoor Play Every Day

Although our indoor and outdoor spaces are equally enchanting, we place priority on our outside time. Following weather guidelines everyday, we provide a nurturing, creative environment in the heart of NE Minneapolis. Our kids freely explore and inquire, practice social connections, and build a foundation for the love of learning. By honoring each child’s stage of development, we help move children toward understanding the Self and connection to surroundings.

Our Day

Sun and snow and everything in between, we prioritize outdoor play. Throughout our day we build on a child’s innate motivation and positive attitude toward learning. Our daily schedule includes: Morning circle, outdoor play, story time, group inspiration, lunch, and spend time creating new wonders. We advocate for free play, child-centered curriculum and deep community connections.

Our Philosophy

This is a place for every child. We focus on child-led play and emergent curriculum to support a love of learning and give children a magical first educational experience. Guided by responsive, nurturing teachers, children enter rich play and learning opportunities at their own pace.

Our Teachers

Our Playworking Teachers come from a diverse background of arts education, adventure play, a true love of kids, and an extensive background in early childhood development.
